Second visit: Ellen in India, AurovilleSignet of Auroville. Auroville belongs to nobody in particular. Auroville belongs to humanity as a whole. Click on it for to get directly to the internet site of Auroville. The big building Matrimandir is the sign of Auroville. It's worth to see it, especially to have a meditation in there. Sandy path to the Matrimandir, you will pass by the big Banyon Tree. Already this bizarre growing tree invites you to sit and rest and have a meditation. A sandy path in Auroville close to the small comunity Prajatna. Lots of green and blossoms. Our little huts where we slept, nice to look at, but a very simple furnishing, a metall bed, a little wardrobe, a chair and a little table. Hibiscus blossom. Magnificient blossoms you can see everywhere over here. Ellen and her two colleagues at the library. Taking a picture and looking at it right away brought allways big smiles in their face. If you ask, everyone likes to be photographed. And if they can see the picture immediately they just like it and are proud. Ellen and her motorbike, if she stepped on the gas, we hardly could keep up with her. Often we went by taxi. Ellen and Ulrike are on their way to the cab. It is a cheap possibility in India to get around, because we don't know their road circumstances, we cannot read the signs, and they drive on "the wrong side" ;-) In front of Ellen's door. It's the main entrance, but she uses it as back door. Ulrike eaten a dosai, a very big baked flat rice cake with different delicious sauces. Very tasty even if you have to eat it with your fingers. We are guests at Leif and the house of arts. Leif is a friend of Ellen, he comes from Sweden and he lives part time in India at the house of arts. We get a whole lot of Informations about the new and the old projects, the theatre group of the house of arts. Sweet little chit of a girl, this cute daughter of an artist. Here are some pictures of Ponticherry and Chidambaram. This house was build around palm trees, they have been here first. Street temples I have called this little houses, they are dedicatet to a certain God, and they are standing along the road. This is just the normal traffic on the roads of Ponticherry. Traffic in India means lots of bikes, motos, tryces, cars, busses, people, dogs cows ... Look at the "F" on the sign, funny. Tamil letters are completely unknown to us. Hard to believe, but here directly at the riverside are living thousands of people. Garbage collection seems to be unknown, the whole junk ends up in the water, so does the sewages. Imacingly there are still little fishes living in the water, they get caught and eaten. Temperatures were allways very high, and a fresh coconut was delicious. Good scilled cuts this woman from India the tough coconut with one hard slap with the sharp knife. The clear fluid inside is very tasty and refreshing and the coconut meat is tender and nice. Ellen and Bernd, walking around in Dakshina Chitra, a museum village with many fancy and old buildings and histrorical signs. A traditionell dancing groupe shows some folkloric dances. Richly coloured garments, live music, and joy in the eyes of the dancers. Yaksharanga, a professional dance group shows typical India dances. In this dances the mimik and gesticulation is very important and as important as the movements. In Dakshina Chitra we saw this dancing group. Even without understanding anything of the language we could understand the meaning of the dance and the story behind very good. |
